Exploration for solid minerals

Modern geological exploration for the discovery and assessment of mineral deposits is a complex, multi-stage process that requires the use of cutting-edge technologies, in-depth expert knowledge and highly detailed analytical methods.

This process is a critically important strategic link between the initial hypothesis regarding the presence of resources and their profitable extraction, as it is this process that determines the economic viability and investment attractiveness of the entire mining project.

GEOJET-GROUP specialises in providing a wide range of services in the field of prospecting and exploration for solid mineral deposits, ensuring a significant reduction in risks and optimisation of costs at all stages of geological exploration work.

Our main objective is to transform geological uncertainty into a statistically manageable risk and to identify the most efficient and shortest route to the successful development of the field.

A modern approach to geological exploration: responding to the challenges facing the industry

The global minerals and raw materials sector faces a range of serious challenges that significantly complicate the process of exploring for and evaluating new deposits. The era of ‘easy discoveries’, when large and accessible deposits were found right on the surface, is now a thing of the past. Today, in order to find and extract viable resources, it is necessary to search for hidden, deep-seated and structurally complex deposits, which requires a fundamentally different approach.

The main challenges faced by companies:

01

The high cost of field surveys, due to logistics, the cost of maintaining survey teams and expensive drilling

02

The low effectiveness of traditional exploration methods, leading to a high proportion of ‘dry’ wells

03

The extreme complexity of the work and the need to operate in remote regions with a complete lack of infrastructure

04

The severe constraints of the field season

05

There is a high risk of achieving entirely negative results, which would mean the total write-off of all costs incurred

These issues are particularly acute during the exploration of oil and gas fields in complex geological conditions (for example, in fault zones or deeply eroded massifs), where traditional exploration methods often prove to be completely ineffective.

This is precisely why modern geological exploration for oil and gas fields requires fundamentally new technological approaches, based on remote sensing data, predictive analytics and digital forecasting, with precise target identification for subsequent drilling.

Innovative technologies as the basis for efficiency and accurate forecasting

GEOJET-GROUP has developed and is successfully implementing the unique VEDART RS® technology, which is radically transforming the way mineral deposits are explored in the 21st century.

map

This technology is a powerful, comprehensive analytical engine that combines cutting-edge methods of multispectral and hyperspectral analysis, morphostructural modelling and the processing of Earth remote sensing data, utilising machine learning algorithms.

map
The key benefits of VEDART RS® technology include:

The ability to assess ore-bearing potential and identify promising areas with up to 90 per cent accuracy even before any costly fieldwork begins, which radically changes the very logic of geological exploration planning.

map
map

A reduction of 10-fold or more in the area required for detailed exploration work, achieved by pinpointing local anomalies and identifying ore-controlling structures.

The development of a geological-genetic concept of ore formation, which serves as a sound foundation for the subsequent estimation of resources.

The technology enables the rapid identification and assessment of promising areas — the full cycle of desk-based work involved in the preliminary assessment of an area’s potential takes just 45–75 days, which is several times faster than traditional approaches to geological exploration.

A comprehensive approach to reducing risks and improving the efficiency of geological exploration

We offer our clients a full range of services for the discovery and exploration of deposits, comprising several interlinked stages organised into a single process chain:

Preliminary analysis and assessment of potential (pre-field stage)

At this initial stage, we carry out a comprehensive analysis and review of all available source geological data (archival materials, maps), process and interpret remote sensing data, and perform multispectral analysis and morphostructural modelling. This enables us to identify and create a detailed predictive exploration map of ore potential, highlighting promising zones and ranking them by priority for subsequent field verification. Essentially, we create a ‘digital twin’ of the area to carry out initial digital geological exploration.

Data processing and interpretation (Integration desk-based phase)

This is a key stage in which remote sensing data, geophysical anomalies and field geological observations are integrated into a single, consistent digital model. Using advanced machine learning algorithms for geodata classification, principal component analysis (PCA) to identify key features, and cluster analysis, we ensure the accurate interpretation of all data obtained and the identification of hidden patterns invisible to the naked eye, which forms the basis for a high-quality forecast.

Field geophysical surveys

Based on data obtained using remote digital geological exploration technologies, we employ modern, targeted, high-resolution geophysical methods (ELECTRA HRX® technology — high-resolution groundless electrical prospecting; BIEP — non-contact electrical field measurement; ZSB – near-field field-establishment sounding). These methods enable us to identify, localise and delineate ore bodies and ore-controlling structures with a high degree of accuracy, whilst minimising the amount of costly mining and drilling work and the number of boreholes required.

Assessment of resources and reserves

The final stage, during which we calculate resources and reserves in accordance with international standards such as JORC, NI 43-101 or CRIRSCO, prepare a feasibility study and carry out a comprehensive geological due diligence to provide an objective assessment of a project’s investment potential. Our reports are a clear, reliable and recognised tool for securing funding and making strategic management decisions.

Practical results and case studies

The effectiveness of our comprehensive approach to exploration has been demonstrated by numerous successful projects in various regions of the CIS and around the world.

In Central Asia:

As part of one of our projects, covering an area of 630 км², three large ore-bearing regions with different types of mineralisation (tungsten-tin and copper-molybdenum) were identified, and five hidden ore zones were discovered.

Subsequent field verification through drilling brilliantly confirmed the high accuracy of our forecast — 87 per cent of the sites we identified and delineated showed the presence of commercially significant concentrations of minerals.

In Eastern Kazakhstan:

Within a 500 км² licence area, our work led to the identification and delineation of 13 prospective ore-bearing zones, including gold-bearing birchite deposits and copper-porphyry deposits.

The number of promising sites identified and documented (23) enabled the client to immediately focus their efforts and investments on the most promising areas, whilst discarding the 80 per cent of the territory that was known to be unpromising.

In Kazakhstan:

We carried out a comprehensive assessment of ore potential across an area of 2300 км².

As a result, we identified and delineated five prospective areas with different genetic types of mineralisation (skarn-polymetallic, gold-quartz) and discovered eight hidden ore zones covered by overburden.

The identified mineralisation and the selection of 11 priority sites enabled us to draw up precise recommendations for the drilling of 63 boreholes, which allowed the client to radically optimise the entire geophysical survey programme and significantly reduce costs.

The benefits of our methods and technologies

By choosing to work with ‘GEOJET-GROUP’, you gain a number of significant benefits:

A drastic reduction in financial risks:

Our technology enables us to pinpoint and accurately identify targets, significantly reducing the scope of the most costly stages — fieldwork and drilling. The total economic benefit for the client can amount to 60–70 per cent of the overall geophysical survey budget, achieved by eliminating unpromising areas and optimising drilling programmes.

A significant reduction in the time required:

The full cycle of desk-based work to assess a site’s potential takes just 45–75 days, rather than the usual 12–18 months. This enables investors and management companies to significantly speed up strategic decision-making regarding further funding or withdrawal from the project.

Improving the accuracy of forecasts:

The use of machine learning algorithms and modern data analysis methods ensures a forecast accuracy of 85–90 per cent, which is significantly higher than that achieved by traditional approaches, where this figure rarely exceeds 20–30 per cent.

The ability to operate in the most challenging conditions:

Our technology is effective in the most remote regions, where traditional geological exploration is difficult, costly or simply impossible. We carry out our analyses without harming fragile ecosystems.

We will undertake all geological exploration work
