Charged Body Method (MZR / MZ / MZT)
Evaluating geological structures down to depths of 100 m to delineate high-chargeability zones characteristic of mineralized targets
Measuring variations in electrical field parameters enables detailed analysis of local geological structures and precise localization of subsurface targets connected to known conductors or boreholes.
What Subsoil User Challenges Are Solved by the Charged Body Method (MZ / MZT)?
01
Lack of actionable subsurface structural data
Conducts targeted investigations down to depths of 100 meters, delineating prospective structures to build reliable subsurface models.
02
Difficulty localizing ore zone boundaries in early-stage exploration
Identifies and outlines concealed geological anomalies connected to known conductors or drill intercepts, focusing exploration directly on prospective mineralized bodies.
03
Unreliable structural geometry in complex geological settings
Deploys specialized MZ and MZT modifications to establish the continuity of steeply dipping structures and assess their electrophysical parameters.
04
High expenditure on speculative drilling and hypothesis testing
Provides precise geo-electrical cross-sections to ground drill targeting, minimizing geological risk and reducing overall exploration campaign costs.
How Does the Charged Body Method (MZ / MZT) Process Work?
We deploy the Charged Body Method (MZ, MZT) to trace and delineate connected orebodies, mineralized zones, and structural continuities down to depths of 100 meters.
The operational workflow consists of four structured phases:
- Array Setup & Earth Coupling — electrode arrays are deployed along pre-defined surface profiles. One excitation electrode is grounded directly within a known conductor or conductive drill intercept, establishing the charged-body circuit;
- Current Excitation & Potential Recording — direct electric current is supplied to charge the target body. Surface potential differences and decay parameters are recorded across the profile to trace the geometric propagation of the secondary field;
- Methodology Selection — standard MZ is utilized to outline steeply dipping, laterally continuous conductors, while MZT time-decay variants are deployed to accurately resolve depth horizon, orientation, and volumetric geometry of both vertical and horizontal structures;
- Data Processing & Interpretation — field potential measurements are processed using specialized inversion software to map the physical shape and spatial extent of the charged geological body within 2D/3D geo-electrical models.
The Result: The client receives high-resolution geo-electrical cross-sections and 3D inversion models defining the exact dimensions and orientation of the target conductor, enabling precise drill planning and eliminating wasteful step-out holes.
